If there are 3 or more who use ExtendSim part time rather than regularly, a Floating license could be more cost effective than multiple Individual licenses. The Floating license allows ExtendSim to be installed on any number of computers, with concurrent usage restricted to a specified maximum number (you choose how many). It is Client/Server based and users can check out ExtendSim from the network for remote use. Floating licenses are not available for purchase through the ExtendSim Store and must be ordered directly from the ExtendSim Team at ANDRITZ Inc. or your ExtendSim Distributor.
Essential ExtendSim Training
Essential ExtendSim Training
Put yourself on a faster track to success by learning how to build and analyze simulation models using ExtendSim. Basics of discrete event simulation will be covered in the first half of the Essential ExtendSim Training course, plus you'll get an essential understanding of the ExtendSim architecture. The focus of the second half is on problem solving.
From the very first day of this course, you will be building, running, and analyzing models. As the course progresses, explore modeling components and concepts while being coached by the instructor in a class project. All the while you will be learning and applying more advanced concepts to the model to understand appropriate analysis techniques.
By the end of the course, you will feel confident in building ExtendSim models and have your eyes opened to the powerful tools that can be quickly used for in-depth model analysis.
Note: If paying with a company purchase order, please register for this course on the ExtendSim Training Registration site, then submit your PO to Training.ExtendSim@Andritz.com.
In-Person Essential ExtendSim Training Workshop
The In-Person Essential ExtendSim course is a 4-day hands-on workshop. Courses are held at various locations in the US a few times each year.
Download the complete agenda for In-Person Essential ExtendSim Training here.
Online Instructor-Led Essential Course
The Online Essential Training course is instructor-led and covers the same content as the 4-day In-Person Essentials course, but is only a couple hours a day spread over 2+ weeks. You’ll learn the basics of discrete event simulation plus get an essential understanding of the ExtendSim architecture.
The online course consists of nine 1.5 to 2 hour sessions over the course of 2+ weeks plus an optional one-on-one post-course session. Sessions will be held Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays throughout the 2 week training course. The ninth session, held on the third Monday, will review concepts covered in the course and answer any remaining questions.
Each session has a start time of 3pm EDT/UTC-4. Download the complete agenda for the Online Essential ExtendSim Training here.
Homework assignments will be given on most days so attendees can practice concepts covered in class, plus a couple of case studies will be assigned each week to be completed outside of class time. It will be expected that each student plan to spend 1 to 2 hours outside of class each day completing assigned homework to fully comprehend the material.
Who Should Attend
The focus of this course is on discrete event modeling, but the class is also essential for new rate-based modelers, Engineers, Managers, System Analysts, and anyone else who wants to learn simulation modeling and/or get up to speed quickly with ExtendSim. It is appropriate both for those who are new to ExtendSim and for beginning/intermediate simulation modelers.
Prerequisites
Basic Window computer skills and a knowledge of basic statistics (random distributions and confidence intervals) is recommended.
Before your first day of class, it will be extremely helpful if you familiarize yourself with ExtendSim. If you have not already done so, please go through the Tutorials in the Discrete Event Quick Start Guide or watch its video.
For the online course, be sure you have a Model Developer Edition of ExtendSim Pro installed on your computer. If you have not yet purchased and activated ExtendSim, you may use the Trial version. Just be careful not to begin your Trial period with the software any earlier than the week before the online course begins as you only have 30 days in your Trial period.
Included with the Course
- Laptop computer with ExtendSim installed on it for each attendee's use (In-Person course only).
- Course manual with case studies.
- Solution files for all course-based case studies and exercises.
- Book of additional case studies with solutions for post-course practice.
